Now for the most glamorous of all work events – mulch day! Join the farm team on Saturday May 7 from 10 AM – 1 PM as we mulch pathways and fence lines around our newly built garden beds. Have a truck or flatbed and want to make a few short runs to the brush pile? We’d love your help! Comment here or email athenscommunityfarm[at]gmail.com.
If loading and unloading mulch isn’t your thing there is still plenty of clean up and maintenance work to do at the farm. Plus, we just like your company. Please stop by!
Next up – Our next work day is planned for SUNDAY May 22. This will be our final prep day for the season and we’ll be planting our beds, landscaping outside the fence, painting signs and doing any leftover building projects (wash stations, work tables, more beds?). Oh and there will be snacks, of course.

Hello, I am on the Athens Community Day committee and this year it is on June 11th at the Riverfront park. I think I remember that at the 2020 Community Day, the Community Garden had a table to give away pumpkin plants and flower plants too. I am not sure if it was the community farm or a garden club though. Would you be interested in having a table. Believe it is free to have a table but there are no sales allowed. Only give away items. Maybe we will have some lettuce or kale to give away and some seedlings? It’s an annual free event for the community but we didn’t have one in 2021. Let me know what you think. Leroy might be available to help man the table. I think I am at the free Stewart’s ice cream sundae table already, otherwise I would volunteer to sit at a table. Jacqueline

Hi hi! We’re planning on having a table at Community Day in June 🙂 It wasn’t us passing out plants in 2020, but we will be this year! We may also have an activity or game at the table and would love to have Leroy help out if he’s interested. And mmmm now we want ice cream. I’ll be in touch soon!
