September Work Day: Wed 9/20 5:30-7 PM!

Yes, we know, we’re posting this three days before the planned work day. And yes, it’s not actually a work DAY but more of a work EVENING. We’re sorry! But this month is getting away from us and it’s an important time for the farm so we want to make sure there’s an opportunity for everyone to gather and enjoy/care for our growing space. Join us this Wednesday as we clear out the last of the summer crops (until next year, tomatoes!) and do a few final plantings. It looks like we’re in for a beautiful -almost- Fall day, so pack your gloves, a sweater, and come play amongst the plants! Only a few more work days (evenings) left this season.

Can’t make it this time? Don’t worry! We’ll have a work day every month, along with other fun events throughout the season. Keep an eye here or on our social pages for more info and reach out to athenscommunityfarm[at]gmail.com with any questions!

When
Wed, Sept 20
5:30 PM – 7 PM (rain date TBD)

Where
Athens Community Farm
39 Third Street, Athens NY (right behind the Athens Volunteer Fire Dept.)

Goals for the day

  • Pull out the last of the summer crops.
  • Direct seed/transplant remaining fall veggies
  • Check in on recent plantings, note any pest or disease concerns.
  • Enjoy a (hopefully not too buggy) sunset with our fellow community farmers.

What to bring

  • Gloves.
  • Any favorite weeding tools (although we have plenty, so no worries if you do’t have one).
Community Farmer Jamie clearing out the first round of tomatoes in August – swing by Wednesday to pull the rest as we say goodbye to summer!
